Builder Martin Smith and architectural designer Philip Bidwell set up Ultimate Homes in 2000 following a number of successful collaborations over the previous few years.

Philip left Ultimate Homes in 2006 to concentrate solely on his architectural design practice. He now acts as an independent designer for some of Ultimate Homes projects and Ultimate Homes in turn builds some of Philip Bidwell Architectures work. Over the years Ultimate Homes has built many architecturally designed homes both on the hill suburbs and on the flat. Also many alteration and extension jobs have been undertaken throughout Christchurch of varying sizes and complexity.

Most of the work has been design and build but Ultimate Homes are only too happy to build projects where clients already have designers and drawings in place.
